The Government has agreed to an inflation-based increase for parking tickets and the regulated fees for council-ordered towage and Police-ordered impoundment. The fee increases come into effect from 1 October 2024.

Many of these fees have not been updated in at least 20 years. The low fee levels have contributed to inefficiencies in the transport system.

The Government has also committed to increase the fee for misusing a parking space reserved for disabled people from $150 to $750. The new fee better reflects the seriousness of the offence and its impact on the disabled community.
