Instructions for using models

Overview

The individual Excel workbooks are designed to work as a system with numerous links between them and, in some cases, to additional files.

If you only want to view the model results, open the files and ignore the message ‘This workbook contains links to one or more external sources that could be unsafe’ and choose ‘Don’t update’.

If you want the files to work as a system, you must create an additional folder structure on your computer. When you open the files, ignore the message ‘This workbook contains links to one or more external sources that could be unsafe’.

We do not recommend using individual files to test the impact of changes in assumptions or to create new scenarios.

If you want to change assumptions or modify the models

Download and install the complete modelling package.

To change the assumptions in a model and see how it affects another model, make sure the 2 models are properly linked on your computer. Do this by:

  • selecting the Data->Edit Links button in Excel for the downstream model, and
  • changing the source for each of the upstream models to the copy on your computer.
