The Government and Auckland Council have released the Auckland Transport Alignment Project (ATAP) Recommended Strategic Approach, which sets out a clear direction for the development of Auckland’s transport system over the next 30 years.
Over the next 30 years, Auckland’s population is expected to increase by more than 700,000 people, and freight volumes are expected to rise 78 percent. This growth will put significant pressure on the city’s transport system.
To address these challenges, ATAP has developed a strategic approach and an indicative package of projects to illustrate the type and amount of investment likely to be needed over the next 30 years.
